Over the course of five years, he honed his skills and developed a deep understanding of the industry. His role eventually expanded into research and development, where he worked on improving pool cover systems and discovering new ways to serve customers.
But Aaron faced a crossroads—he had the opportunity to pursue optometry school or stay in the pool cover business. After thoughtful consideration and discussions with his wife, Aaron made the decision to remain in the industry he had grown to love. This decision led to him becoming the service manager at Coverstar of Utah.
Taking the Leap: From Coverstar to Mizu Pool Covers
Soon after Aaron became service manager, an unexpected opportunity arose. The company’s owner, Lanny, decided to sell the manufacturing part of the business. Seizing the moment, Aaron took the bold step of purchasing what was then known as Coverstar of Utah.
This marked the beginning of a new chapter. The company flourished, growing to more than 30 times its original size. Today, Mizu Pool Covers is a trusted name in the industry, known for its high-quality, durable pool cover systems. Aaron attributes much of this success to the support of the company’s loyal customers and the hard work of his dedicated team.
Why “Mizu”? The Story Behind the Name
The name “Mizu” carries special meaning for Aaron. During a two-year church mission to Japan, Aaron became familiar with the Japanese language and culture. The word “Mizu” means “water” in Japanese, a fitting choice for a company dedicated to protecting pools.
Aaron wanted a name that was short, memorable, and easy to associate with water. While it may sometimes get mispronounced as “miso” or other variations, the name “Mizu” has become synonymous with quality and reliability in the pool cover industry.
